About this guide
Everything here comes from Kupid AI's homepage and terms, independent reviews published in 2026 and public user-rating summaries, collected in September 2026. It is a research summary, not a long-term personal account.
The one-minute summary
If voice matters most, Kupid AI is the one to look at. Its voice notes are what reviewers praise again and again, and companions can reach out first with check-ins when you have been away. The downsides are on the billing side: media is capped weekly by plan, prices change by region and billing period, weekly billing is often preselected and far dearer over a year than annual, and the terms say all sales are final.
A good match for: people who want a companion that sends voice messages and reaches out on its own
Probably not for you if: you want refunds, long-term memory, or more than a 15-message free plan
Take a first look at Kupid AI →
First things first: what is Kupid AI?
Put simply, Kupid AI (kupid.ai) is a website where adults 18+ chat with AI companions and receive voice notes from them. You can choose from a rotating roster of realistic and anime characters (the homepage says new models arrive every week) or build your own, and both AI boyfriends and AI girlfriends are available; reviewers say the boyfriend personas are properly built out, not reskins.
The footer names SNB Technologies LTD of Nicosia, Cyprus, as the operator, and independent reviewers say it launched in 2023. The homepage promises "free to start, no card required" and advertises voice and photos, memory and privacy. Reports differ on a native app, but most reviewers describe Kupid as browser-based.
Safety basics before you sign up
- Your data. Kupid claims GDPR compliance, independent reviewers note. SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications listed by third-party indexers could not be verified by those reviewers, who treat them with scepticism, and we could not verify them either. Keep identifying details and photos of real people out. How long Kupid keeps your data after you leave, who may review flagged chats and why refunds are almost never granted are explained in our Is Kupid AI safe? guide.
- What is allowed. Paid tiers include mature chat and roleplay settings. One tester found the model stopped that content immediately on request. Kupid's published list of prohibited content is less detailed than some competitors'.
- Age. Adults 18+ only. The Terms say the platform contains mature and AI-generated mature content and require users to be at least 18 or of legal age in their country. Age is confirmed at sign-up; we found no evidence of document checks.
- Protect yourself at checkout. Take a screenshot of the plan and total you choose, and keep your cancellation email plus any reply.
Should you start here?
Choose Kupid AI if voice is your top priority and a companion who reaches out first appeals to you. It suits short, regular chats more than long, detailed roleplay. Committing? Reviewers consistently say go yearly, not weekly.
Pass on it if refunds matter, if your stories need long memory, or if images and video are your main interest. Other platforms in this group do those things better.
What you can do on it
Photos and video messages
You can get images in chat and from a dedicated generator, and short AI video messages of roughly 4–15 seconds are reported. Reviewers describe image quality as serviceable; text-to-video and image-to-video reportedly fail or ignore the prompt fairly often.
Companions that message first
If you have not visited for a while, your companion can reach out first, voice notes included. Reviewers find this distinctive because most rivals only reply when you write.
Voice
Several independent reviews put Kupid's asynchronous voice messages among the best at budget prices. Quality depends on the character, one tester found, with some voices warmer and more natural than others. Plans cap voice minutes weekly, and reviewers say only the top tier can send voice messages to the bot.
Reels
There is also a short-video feed section in the navigation.
Memory
A rolling window that expands with your plan, reportedly about 30 messages free and around 100 on higher tiers. Reviewers note drift after a few weeks, and there is no memory panel you can edit.
Custom companions
Detailed appearance and personality controls, with sliders like warm/cold and assertive/reserved (per one reviewer). Your backstory choices influence the proactive messages.
Few apps do the good-morning voice note as well as Kupid, so it is the one to try if that appeals.
Upsides and downsides
Upsides
- Top-rated voice notes at this price point
- Annual and lifetime options offer good value against weekly billing
- Detailed character builder with personality sliders
- Built-out AI boyfriends as well as other companions
- Proactive messages and check-ins
Downsides
- The official Terms make all sales final; cancel via hello@kupid.ai or the self-serve button
- Weekly billing is reportedly the default and costs much more over time
- The free tier is 15 messages, far short of what the homepage's "unlimited" wording suggests
- Public opinion is mixed, with about 2.4/5 on Trustpilot from a small sample in one independent summary and better first-impression ratings elsewhere; we could not confirm the current figure
- Short rolling memory; unreliable video generation
- Coins included with plans expire after six months
Understanding the prices
Corrected 5 October 2026: an earlier version of this section said Kupid kept its prices off public pages and relied on third-party figures, including US monthly prices. Kupid's subscriptions page does list its plans, so the table below now follows it. How the 15-message free plan squares with the homepage's "Unlimited Chat for Free" banner is covered in what Kupid's "unlimited" free chat really includes, and where to go instead.
Kupid's own subscriptions page publishes a plan table, which we rechecked on 5 October 2026. Prices there are in US dollars and billed weekly, yearly or once for lifetime; there is no monthly plan, and promotions or your currency can change what you see at checkout:
| Tier | Price (subscriptions page) | Weekly limits |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 15 messages in total; remembers the last 30 messages; no photos, videos or voice |
| Pro | $12.99/week or $179/year (no monthly plan) | 25 photos, 8 videos, 12 min voice per week; remembers the last 100 messages |
| Ultra | $24.99/week or $299/year (no monthly plan) | 75 photos, 25 videos, 35 min voice per week; unlimited memory |
| Lifetime | $777 one-time | One-time payment, listed on the same page |
The expensive default. Weekly billing is often preselected, and annual plans are shown as weekly amounts (around €3.44 or €5.75 a week), reviewers say. Over twelve months weekly Ultra reportedly costs about €1,299, compared with €299 on the yearly plan for identical allowances. Look carefully at the period and total, and disable the automatic coin renewal toggle if you do not want it; it is reportedly on by default.
List price vs checkout. €9.99 for a weekly plan was what another 2026 reviewer paid, and discount banners change over time, so the list prices above are a reference rather than a guarantee.
Payment. The Kupid subscriptions page offers card, PayPal, Patreon and crypto payment. One reviewer reports that the bank descriptor reads "Kupid", which is not discreet.
No refunds. According to the official Terms, "All sales of digital products are final and non-refundable", with no refunds "for any subscriptions, accessed or used after purchase." Stopping rebilling means emailing hello@kupid.ai, per the Terms, although the account area also has a self-serve cancel button. EU residents may have statutory consumer rights worth checking. Switch off coin auto-renewal separately.
About coins. There is a coin currency too. Plan, trial, promotional and gift coins expire six months after they are credited, the official Terms say, but purchased packs never expire. Reported pack prices run from about $9 (100) to about $299 (3,000), and an image costs around 4 coins.
Beginner questions
Is there a free version?
Yes, without a card, but only for 15 messages according to Kupid's own plan table (the homepage's "Unlimited Chat for Free" line suggests more). Voice notes, photos and videos need a paid plan.
How much will a beginner pay?
That depends on the billing period. Kupid's plan table shows Pro at $12.99 a week or $179 a year and Ultra at $24.99 a week or $299 a year; Lifetime is $777 once, and there is no monthly plan. Check the total before paying.
What if I want a refund?
Kupid's Terms say all sales are final and non-refundable. EU consumers may have statutory rights, but a refund is not something to count on.
How do I cancel?
According to the Terms, email hello@kupid.ai to stop rebilling. The account area also has a self-serve cancel button. Switch off automatic coin renewal separately.
Can I choose an AI boyfriend?
Yes. Kupid has AI boyfriends and AI girlfriends, and reviewers say the boyfriends have their own backstories and voices.
Other options to look at
- Candy AI has a broader media set with images, voice calls, video and Story Mode, published subscription prices and a 24-hour refund window outside the EU and UK. Try Candy AI instead.
- JOI AI has a low annual price, licensed creator personas and Dream Clips; watch out for Neuron charges. See JOI AI.
- Ourdream AI has transparent coin pricing (rechecked: 1 coin/message for non-subscribers) and much better-rated memory. Try Ourdream AI.
Wrapping up
Going by its terms, its official plan prices and user feedback, Kupid AI is mainly worth it for voice, where natural voice notes and proactive messages set it apart. Handle pricing with care: verify the billing period, disable coin auto-renewal and remember there are no refunds under the official terms. Pick the yearly plan knowingly and it is a reasonable choice.
