The one-minute summary
Few AI chat companion apps match Candy AI's feature list. Unlimited text chat, pictures, voice notes and calls, image-to-video, "Live Action" scenes and Story Mode all sit in one browser app, and a year costs $3.99 a month. What the low price hides is that media runs on tokens, so heavy users of images, voice and video can pay much more than the headline figure.
A good match for: people who want chat and visuals under one login and do not mind paying per item for media

First things first: what is Candy AI?
Put simply, Candy AI (candy.ai) is a website where adults 18+ chat with AI companions. It is run by EverAI Limited, registered in Malta, launched in 2023 and is now one of the most heavily advertised services of its kind. You can choose from a large library of premade realistic or anime characters or design your own, picking their looks, personality, voice and relationship type.
You use it in a browser. EverAI has no official native app, only an "add to home screen" web app for phones, and reviewers warn that apps in the stores using the Candy name may not be official. Safety basics before you sign up
- Moderation. Reports describe inconsistent text-chat filtering despite the mature-content focus.
- Data. EverAI is data controller under GDPR. Reviewers summarising the privacy notice say chats, images and voice notes are stored on EverAI's servers, message content may be shared with AI model and moderation providers, flagged content can be human-reviewed, and account data is kept up to three years after last activity. Chats are not end-to-end encrypted; do not share identifying details.
- 18+. Users must be adults under the terms and a separate Underage Policy, and so must characters. Sign-up relies on confirming your age; as of September 2026 we found no evidence of document or face checks in most regions.
- Emotional use. Candy is used by some reviewers for companionship during hard times. It is a fictional product, not a substitute for real support.
Should you start here?
Candy AI suits you if you want one place for companion chat, custom pictures, voice notes and the occasional video, and you are comfortable treating tokens as a separate budget. If you mostly chat, the annual plan is one of the cheapest ways to get unlimited messages from a well-known operator.
Skip it if you want a companion that reliably remembers what happened last week, if paying extra for every picture will annoy you, or if you want to try the product properly before paying at all, because the trial lasts only a few messages.
What you can do on it
Images
You can ask a character for a picture in chat or generate one directly. Third-party breakdowns put a standard image at roughly 4 tokens; Candy does not publish per-item token rates on its pricing page, so treat that as an estimate. Users like the overall quality, but some say details such as clothing, setting or pose get ignored, and failed generations still cost tokens.
Character builder
You choose style, ethnicity, body, hair, personality, voice and relationship type. The help centre says custom characters now run on a newer "V2" engine aimed at better realism and consistency.
Text conversations
Premium includes unlimited messaging with no token cost, the core of what you pay for. Trustpilot reviewers praise the quality of the chat and how different the characters feel from each other more than anything else. Replies can be short by default, so long-time users recommend learning to prompt for longer ones.
Story Mode
A guided, scene-by-scene story layer on top of chat. The related weakness is memory: in an analysis of 100 Trustpilot reviews (February 2026), memory lapses topped the complaints, even among 5-star reviews. Premium Plus includes 20 manual memory slots that help somewhat.
Moving pictures
You can animate a generated image into a short clip or watch scripted "Live Action" scenes with selected characters. Independent reviewers mention clips of up to 120 seconds on some features, more than most rivals. Expect video to consume the most tokens.
Talking
Besides voice messages there are beta "live audio" calls, reportedly about 3 tokens per minute.
Candy is the service rivals get compared to when it comes to combining chat, images, voice and video in one account.
Upsides and downsides

Understanding the prices
These prices come from Candy AI's official subscriptions page in September 2026, in USD (visitors in Europe may see euros):

How far 100 tokens go. Around 25 images at roughly 4 tokens apiece, and that is the lot. Most users who add voice calls or video regularly will need more. A Trustpilot reviewer described spending close to $300 on tokens in one month, which is extreme but shows the risk.
Payment methods. Visa, Mastercard and several cryptocurrencies, according to reports. The bank statement reportedly says "Everai" rather than "Candy AI": not anonymous, but it does not name the product.
Refunds and cancelling. Per the terms as summarised by independent reviewers, customers outside the EU and UK can request a refund within 24 hours of payment if they have used no more than 20 tokens. EU and UK customers have a 14-day withdrawal right on a first purchase. Cancel via My Profile → Settings → Unsubscribe; access lasts until the end of the paid period.
Other billing options. A September 2026 independent review found weekly ($5.60) and two-week ($9.79) options at checkout. Across a year they cost several times the annual plan, so confirm your selection.
Extra tokens. According to third-party reports, prices begin at $9.99 for 100 and reach about $299.99 for 3,750.
About Premium Plus. The help centre lists 330 tokens monthly, 20 memory slots, user personas, chat customization, clone chats and early character access. The public page we checked did not show a price.
What you get. Every Premium plan includes unlimited text messages, 18+ image and video generation, custom companions and 100 tokens monthly; tokens cover images, voice messages and calls, image-to-video, some Live Action content and private content packs.

Is there a free version?
Only a short trial with a few messages and possibly a sample image. After that Candy AI needs a subscription, and media costs tokens as well. How much should a beginner expect to pay?
$13.99 for one month, $26.97 for three months ($8.99/month) or $47.88 for a year ($3.99/month), based on the official subscriptions page in September 2026.
What are tokens?
Candy's credit for images, voice messages and calls, image-to-video, some Live Action content and private content packs. Chatting by text on Premium is unlimited and does not use tokens.
What if I want a refund?
Outside the EU and UK you generally need to ask within 24 hours of paying and have used 20 tokens or fewer. EU and UK customers can withdraw within 14 days of a first purchase.
What does the charge look like on my statement?

If you want the broadest AI companion toolkit and are happy to budget for tokens, Candy AI is the one to beat, especially on the annual plan for chatting. If you need strong memory, a flat price or a generous refund window, it will frustrate you. Weigh those points before you subscribe.
