Ourdream AI vs Candy AI: Prices, Memory, Media and Which One Fits You (2026)

Ourdream AI and Candy AI get recommended in the same breath, yet they solve different problems. Candy is the cheaper ticket to a companion you can see and hear. Ourdream costs more up front but puts more coins in your pocket each month and is unusually open about how its memory works. Which one is "better" depends on whether your evenings are mostly pictures or mostly story.

The verdict before the details

• Pick Candy AI if you want the lowest yearly price, a big media toolbox (photos, voice, video, Live Action, Story Mode) and you're happy to budget tokens.
• Pick Ourdream AI if long stories with one character you designed matter most, and you value memory you can inspect and correct.
• Pick neither yet if you want a real free plan: Candy's free account is five messages, and Ourdream has no free allowance at all.

Sticker prices hide how differently the two bill, so here is the first year on each plan, before any top-ups.

On subscription alone, Candy's annual plan is less than half of Ourdream's. The gap narrows once you look at what each fee buys. Ourdream's 1,000 monthly coins stretch, by third-party estimates, to something like 200 ordinary pictures, or twenty-odd minutes on a voice call, or fewer than two half-minute videos. Candy's 100 tokens cover around 25 to 50 pictures at the 2–4 tokens per image that outside guides estimate. If you generate images every day, Candy's cheaper plan can end up costing more once packs are added; Candy's own token page is behind a login, and third-party price lists start at $9.99 for 100 tokens.

One oddity: the code behind Candy's checkout includes a $5.60 weekly and a $9.79 fortnightly option that never appear as plan cards. Check which period you are actually selecting.

Is Ourdream AI free?

Not in any practical sense. Registration needs no card. After that, according to Ourdream's help centre, every message costs non-members a coin, and coins aren't given away. Older reviews describing a daily free allowance no longer match that wording, though other Ourdream pages say you get 55 coins at sign-up. The cheapest real test is a short coin-paid sample, or one month at $19.99 before committing to the year.

Building the character

Both apps let you design a companion from scratch in realistic or anime styles. Candy's builder leans visual: you pick the look in detail, then personality, a voice and what kind of relationship it is. Candy says self-made characters have moved to a "V2" engine meant to keep them realistic and consistent. Ourdream's builder spends more effort on the writing side: alongside appearance and voice you set the scenario and example dialogue, which shapes how the character talks from the first message. Characters you publish on Ourdream are checked by a person before they go public, and members can put several characters in one group chat.

Memory: the clearest difference

Ourdream explains its memory as a stack. A summary log rewrites itself about once every twenty replies; a pinned box takes up to 15,000 characters of facts you choose; custom instructions shape the prose; and a persona tells the character who you are. In the memory settings you can read that log, trigger a fresh summary, freeze it, or open it for hand edits. Its own guide is candid that memory "is guidance, not a database", and summaries can drop small early details.

Candy is more limited by design. Candy's support pages link detailed recall to the conversation you're in, and wiping or resetting that chat wipes what it knew. A third-party study of 100 Trustpilot reviews from February 2026 found forgetfulness at the top of the complaint list. Pictures, voice and video

This is Candy's home ground. A single plan opens pictures, voice notes, live calls still in beta (third-party: roughly 3 tokens per minute), animating a still into a clip, prepared Live Action scenes and Story Mode. Some reviewers report clips running as long as two minutes. The catch is that all of it draws on tokens, and video drains them fastest.

Ourdream does images well by most accounts, with faces staying fairly consistent across generations, and reviewers rate its voice calls as decent but unremarkable. Video is its weak spot. Third parties put it at about 100 coins per five seconds, and failed or off-prompt clips are the most frequent complaint in public reviews.

Billing, cancelling and your data

• Payment: Candy's help centre lists cards, crypto, Apple/Google Pay and bank transfer, and the statement reads "EverAI". Ourdream takes cards and crypto; PayPal isn't listed.
• Refunds: Candy refunds card payments only, inside 24 hours and with at most 20 tokens spent; buyers in the EU and UK also get 14 days to withdraw from their first purchase. Ourdream's refund rules are stricter in third-party summaries, and crypto is never refunded.
• After cancelling: Ourdream blurs earlier images and videos until you resubscribe, so download what you want to keep. On Candy, the terms say leftover tokens expire after cancellation while an August 2026 help article says they are kept; assume the terms apply.
• Deletion: Ourdream says a deleted account takes its chats, creations and leftover coins with it, permanently, within one to two days. Candy's account deletion runs through a "Danger Zone" setting that also cancels the subscription.
• Chat data: Ourdream says chat messages go to third-party AI model providers to generate replies, and its privacy policy allows using your data to train its own AI models.

• seeing and hearing the companion matters more than perfect recall;
• you'll set a token budget before generating video;
• you like having many features (Live Action, Story Mode, calls) in one account.
