Disclosure: this guide was drafted with AI assistance and then checked and edited by me, Charles. I may earn a commission when you sign up through the links here to Candy AI, Kupid AI, Lovescape, JOI AI or Ourdream AI; nothing else mentioned pays me. Adults (18+) only. The facts come from Candy's help centre, its web-app manifest and its subscriptions page, all read on 6 October 2026. I haven't installed and lived with the home-screen version for weeks, so treat this as desk research, not a personal test.
Short answer: there is no Candy AI app in the App Store or on Google Play. Candy's help centre says so plainly in an article updated on 19 June 2026: "Candy.ai does not offer a native mobile app for iOS or Android." What it offers instead is a progressive web app, which is the website saved to your home screen so it opens full-screen, without the browser bar, and can send notifications.
That matters more than it sounds. People searching for a Candy AI download, a Candy AI APK or a Candy AI iOS app often end up on lookalike listings and unofficial sites. Below: the catches to know first, how to install the real thing on each phone, what does and doesn't change on mobile, and which of the other companion apps behave the same way.
The catches first
- Anything in an app store using the Candy name isn't Candy's. If the company says it has no native app, a store listing calling itself Candy AI comes from someone else. That includes "mod" APK files promising free tokens. Installing one means handing a login, and possibly a card, to an unknown developer.
- Deleting the icon doesn't cancel anything. The home-screen version is only a shortcut to candy.ai. Your plan, tokens and chats live on the account, not on the phone, so removing the icon leaves billing untouched.
- You won't find the subscription in Apple or Google settings. Because nothing is bought through a store, there's no App Store or Play Store subscription to manage or refund. Payment runs through the card or wallet you used on the website, and the statement shows "EverAI".
- The phone version costs exactly what the website costs. It is the website. The free account is still a sample (Candy's help centre puts it at five messages in total, one image and one custom character), and pictures, voice and video still spend tokens.
- Notifications are only as useful as Candy makes them. The PWA can push alerts, but a June 2026 help article says the proactive-message feature, where characters wrote to you unprompted, has been switched off for now.
How to put Candy AI on an iPhone
Candy's own instructions are short, and they match how Safari handles any web app:
- Open candy.ai in Safari. Type the address yourself rather than tapping an ad or a search result you don't recognise.
- Sign in, so the saved version opens on your account.
- Tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen, and confirm.
An icon named "Candy AI" appears with your other apps. Candy's manifest file sets it to open in standalone mode, so it launches without Safari's address bar and looks like a normal app. Updates arrive automatically because you are loading the live site each time; there's nothing to update in a store.
Go here if you use an iPhone and want Candy one tap away: this is the only official way, and it takes under a minute.
How to put Candy AI on Android
- Open candy.ai in Chrome (or another browser that supports installing web apps).
- Tap the three-dot menu and choose Add to Home Screen or Install app, depending on your Chrome version.
Some Android browsers offer an install banner on their own once they detect the manifest. Either route ends in the same place, a launcher icon that opens Candy full-screen. You don't need to allow installs from unknown sources, and you shouldn't. A site that asks you to sideload an APK for Candy isn't Candy.
Go here if you're on Android and were about to search for an APK. The browser install gives you the real service, with the same account you use on a computer.
What changes on a phone (and what doesn't)
The account follows you. Log in on a laptop and on your phone with the same email and you see the same characters, history and token balance, because nothing is stored in an app. That also means you can't transfer tokens to a second email; Candy's help centre says moving an account or balance to another address isn't possible. If the sign-in screen itself is what's stopping you, our Candy AI login guide covers reset links, Google/Discord/X sign-ins and changing the email on the account.
Voice needs microphone permission from your browser. Voice calls (still marked beta) use the phone's microphone through the browser. If the call won't hear you, Candy's troubleshooting article says to check the microphone permission for Safari or Chrome in your phone's settings, close other apps that are using the mic, and disconnect a Bluetooth headset that might be grabbing it.
Saving pictures and clips is a long-press. You'll see download prompts the first time Candy tries to save media; that's your browser asking, not malware. To keep a video, Candy suggests opening it, holding your finger on it for two or three seconds and choosing Download video.
Unprompted media can be switched off. Characters in "Realistic" chat mode may send photos, voice notes or clips on their own. Candy's help centre explains the toggles beside the gift icon at the bottom of the chat; turn them grey and the character stops doing it. On a small screen in a shared space, that's worth setting before you start.
Visuals are where the phone version earns its place. Of the five apps in this guide, Candy has the broadest set of picture and video tools: in-chat images, short generated clips, Live Action scenes and a Roulette video mode. The caveat is the meter. Premium starts at $9.99 for the first month and then renews at $13.99, or $26.97 a quarter, or $47.88 billed yearly, and each plan includes unlimited text plus 100 tokens a month. Video eats that quickly: Candy's own page code prices a five-second scene at 12 tokens and a ten-second one at 20, and Roulette runs at 5 tokens a minute. Our breakdown of what Candy's free account and tokens really cost does the maths in more detail.
Go here if you mainly want pictures and short clips on your phone and you're happy to budget tokens: Candy AI is the strongest pick for visuals, as long as you accept the token ceiling.
Before you install: three quick checks
- The address bar says candy.ai. Not a hyphenated variant, not a country-code copy. Lookalike "help" and download sites exist; one we came across sits behind a bot check and isn't affiliated with Candy.
- You know how to leave. Cancelling happens on the website under your profile settings, not in a store. If that's the part you're unsure about, our walkthrough for stopping Candy's renewal, requesting a refund or closing the account walks through each route.
- You've decided on notifications. iPhones only allow web-app notifications for sites added to the home screen, so the prompt usually appears after installing. Saying no doesn't break anything.
Do the other companion apps have real apps?
Short version: none of the four alternatives below runs an official native app either. All of them serve a web-app manifest, so each can be added to a home screen the same way.
Ourdream AI is browser-only; its help centre points phone users to the home-screen shortcut. It suits people who want detailed character building and longer roleplay and don't mind paying from the start. Go here if story control matters more than video tools: Ourdream AI.
JOI AI lives on joi.ai and its adult-oriented sister domain. JOI has no current App Store listing and works as a web app you can add to your home screen; our JOI AI guide on Medium covers which domain is which and how Neurons are spent. Go here if you want a large library of ready-made characters through the browser: JOI AI.
Lovescape also runs in the browser. Reviewers have flagged unrelated Play Store apps using the name (a third-party report), so the same advice applies: type the address. Its chips don't expire, which helps if you use it in bursts. Go here if you visit occasionally and hate losing unused credit: Lovescape.
Kupid AI is described by most independent reviewers as browser-based, and its site ships a web-app manifest too. Its official plan table allows 15 messages for free; past that, Pro is billed weekly ($12.99) or yearly ($179), and there's no month-to-month plan. Go here if voice notes are the feature you care about and you'd pay yearly: Kupid AI.

FAQ
Is there a Candy AI app for iPhone?
Not in the App Store. Candy offers a web app you add from Safari with Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Is there a Candy AI APK for Android?
No official one. Install from Chrome's menu instead; skip any APK, especially "mod" versions offering free tokens.
Is the home-screen version free?
Installing costs nothing. Using it follows the normal account rules: a small free allowance, then Premium for chat and tokens for media.
Will my chats sync between phone and computer?
Yes. Everything sits on your account, so the same login shows the same history on any device.
How do I cancel if I signed up on my phone?
Through the website's profile settings, the same as on a computer. Removing the icon doesn't stop renewal, and Apple or Google can't cancel it for you.
Why won't voice calls work on my phone?
Usually the browser lacks microphone permission, or another app or a headset has the mic. Check the browser's permissions in your phone's settings, then reload.
